This is a follow-up story to Buds for Vets Support Disabled Veterans with Free Medical Cannabis Referrals
Buds for Vets is continuing their push for fewer restrictions on medical cannabis. Earlier this month, PCB HHS 19-03 made its way through legislation in Tallahassee and is now in the bill process titled HB 7117. If signed into law, HB 7117 would limit the amount of THC in cannabis to 10% resulting in lowering the effectiveness of the medicine.
Alex Popoff, Marketing Director for Buds for Vets, is calling for those who oppose HB 7117 to make a stand.
“I don’t think it will pass,” Popoff Said. “But we need veterans and all advocates on the record opposing this!”
2 Broke Vets, a pro-medical cannabis duo, were the only two veterans in attendance when PCB HHS 19-03 was voted on. Tanya Bailey, member of the duo, said they would be making a 5-hour drive to Tallahassee tomorrow to oppose the bill.
"We feel very strongly that this bill will violate all patients rights,' Bailey said. "By restricting the THC limit to 10% [patients] will have to smoke 2 or 3 times as much costing patients more money."
Florida Cannabis Action Network and Florida NORML will be joining Buds for Vets in making their way to The Florida State Capitol this upcoming Tuesday to make their voices heard. The committee will begin at 10:30 am in Webster Hall.
