Fort Myers Beach St. Patrick’s Day Parade brought in the festivities that come along with the holiday this weekend. The event took place along a two-mile stretch on Estero Blvd. on Fort Myers Beach and was open to the public.
Bagpipes, drums and flags led the way as the parade kicked off at 10 a.m. Saturday morning. Many local businesses marched their way down the boulevard in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day. Locals say it is a great way to include the whole family in the celebration.
“We usually like to go out on St. Patrick’s Day and party downtown,” said Magen Fultz. “This year we decided to just enjoy the parade and relax on the beach with our kids.”
The event, originally scheduled for Sunday, was followed shortly by rain.
“There was a bit of rain over night and early this morning,” said Fultz. “We were kind of bummed and worried it was going to get rained out. Luckily, the weather is holding up.”
Motorcycle police in attendance to the parade pulled over to the side of the route to greet many children.
“It was cool that they did little circles in the road and came by to give the kids high fives,” said Fultz. “I enjoyed the interaction and I know the kids did, too.”
More events are to come throughout the weekend. If you missed out on the parade here are a few events you can check out:

Most events will be running rain or shine, but be sure to check the weather prior to going out. Please ensure you plan your fun accordingly and consume alcohol responsibly. Always designate a sober driver.
