Another exciting event took place in the River District of Downtown Fort Myers with Six Bends Harley Davidson hosting its 2nd Fort Myers Bike Night of 2019. The family friendly event took place Friday night from 6-10 pm and was open to the public. The event offered entertainment, live music, food and vendors along First Street and the surrounding side streets.
The roads are closed to traffic for this event and only motorcycles are able to park on the streets during this event. Parking is available is designated areas outside of the Rier District as well as parking in nearby parking garages.
Rider, Matthew Dejosia, said it is best to arrive early and park in designated areas to comply with the code enforcement.
“[Motorcyclists] arrive before 5 pm to start getting parked,” said Dejosia. “You can’t park on the sidewalks at all or you will get a ticket. The cops will get you on that.”
Dejosia said the event is a great way to meet new people and have fun with the family.
“For the most part, riders have a bad name for how some of us drive on the roads,” said Dejosia. “Some of these sport bikers like to speed around and do crazy stuff, but we aren’t all like that. Bike Night gets a lot of attention from people that don’t even ride and that interaction is pretty cool.”
The event is patrolled by Fort Myers Police Department to ensure the safety of the public as well as help navigate traffic.
“I have been to a lot of the Bike Nights out here and haven’t had any issues,” Dejosia said. “ The law enforcement is very friendly with all of us and if there are ever any issues they recognize it before it gets out of hand and I never feel like I have to worry.”
If you missed on this Bike Night be sure to mark your calendar for the next night on Saturday May 11th. For more information on Six Bends Harley Davidson or the upcoming event you can visit www.fortmyersriverdistrictalliance.com.
